After three years studying in a course called 'Robotics and Mechatronics', I've finally gotten a chance to touch an actual industrial robot and honestly, it's great. Even though he (That's right, I think the name Scorbot automatically makes it a he) moves really slowly and is limited to a very small range of motion, it feels really great holding a button on the keyboard and watching him crawl in the direction you want, knowing that all the little motors inside him are working together in perfect mechanical harmony...
Also, have you ever wondered how those expensive digital cameras make your pictures all sharp and vibrant? Well, if you have, I'd strongly recommend that you study up on matrices before you even think of trying to learn it. You see, I have the pleasure of giving vision to the otherwise blind industrial robot. So, I need to learn about the wonderful world of image processing. Expecting to use user friendly programs like Photoshop, I'm blindsided by gray photos and technical software like Matlab. Did you know that photos are actually made up of thousands of seemingly random numbers?
Well, it's time to get back to work. As a 'Gamer with Hands-on Robot Experience', FT out...
